A Biography of Dr. Yue Xiaoyong

Graduated with a M.A. from Wuhan University and a Ph.D. from Beijing University. A hugely successful career diplomat, Married with one daughter.

  • 2016~- .Ambassador to the Republic of Ireland since 2016.
  • 2014~-2016 MFA adviser for the China-Arab States Expo and Ambassador for policy planning in MFA.
  • 2007~2013 Ambassador to the State of Qatar; Ambassador to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan;
  • 2002~2006 Deputy Director General for Policy Planning of MFA; Director General for policy planning in the Research Office of the State Council, PRC, Political Counsellor and Head of Political office of the Chinese Embassy in the U.S. from 1997 to 2002.
  • 1990~2002 Deputy Division Director, Division Director, and Dept. Counsellor and Dept. leadership member in the Dept. Of North American and Oceanian Affairs (NAOA), MFA, in 1990’s.
  • 1985~1990 Joined diplomatic service in mid-1980’s as desk officer in the Canadian, Australian and New Zealand Affairs Division, Dept. of NAOA, MFA; served as private secretary to the Ambassador and political officer in the Chinese Embassy in UK.
  • 1975~1985 Deputy Principal and Teacher of Hongmiao Primary and Middle School in Enshi City, Hubei Province; student consultant in the English Dept., College of Foreign Languages, Wuhan University.
